  SASS Cowboy Action Match will consist of 5 or 6 stages of fire.  All SASS rules, scoring, and safety protocols will be in effect.  

   

  Gates open at 8:00am, registration begins at 8:00am, mandatory Cowboy Safety meeting on the range at 9:00am.  First-time cowboy shooters must pre-register with match officials at least one week before the date of any match.  

   

  Matches will be completed by 3:00pm.  

  Shooters must have the necessary guns for Cowboy Action Shooting: i.e., Two (2) Single Action revolvers, a lever action rifle chambered in a center-fire pistol cartridge, and a SASS-compliant Shotgun.  The only exceptions will be for any pre-registered new shooters or those under 18, who have been assigned a Cowboy Mentor by the match officials.

  Welcome to the 2025 Mason Dixon Precision Rifle Series (MDPRS)

  
  The 2025 MDPRS will consist of eleven matches and a finale. Five matches will be
  held at the New Holland Rifle and Pistol Club (NHRPC) in Gap PA, four matches at the Mayberry Game Protective Association (MGPA) in Westminster MD and three matches at the Mifflin County Sportsmen’s Association in Lewistown, PA.  Qualifying matches will be open to 45-100 competitors with a match fee of $65 per match.   Rifle capable of 1 MOA or better, with a repeatable zero

  2025 Gas Gun Series (RECCE/DMR/SNIPER)

  This Series is designed for the AR or other Semi-Auto rifles. 

   

  RECCE Division (Light Reconnaissance Rifle): 
  Allowed: any semi-automatic rifle chambered in caliber .223/5.56 or .308/7.62x51. A single (1) supporting shooting item not attached to the rifle. This item cannot be a Bipod or Tripod. Max barrel length of 18”. Max optic is 10 power. Max muzzle velocity of 3100 fps and a max projectile weight of 178 grains. No restrictions on support gear or optics.

    

  DMR Division (Designated Marksman Rifle):
  Allowed: any semi-automatic rifle chambered in caliber .223/5.56 or .308/7.62x51. Max muzzle velocity of 3100 fps and a max projectile weight of 178 grains. No restrictions on support gear or optics.

   

  Sniper Class:

  Sniper rifles may be any caliber other than .223/5.56 or .308/7.62x51 or bolt guns of any caliber. Max muzzle velocity of 3100 fps and a max projectile weight of 178 grains. No restrictions on support gear or optics.

   

  The courses of fire range from 100 to 700 yards.  The stages may have restricted round counts and time limits. Stages may require pistols – this will be promoted prior to the match.  The stages require safe movement, non-standard firing positions, moving targets and varying distances.

   

  Targets are typically steel - moving and reactive. 

   

  This is a sponsored series, and prizes may be awarded at matches to shooters in each class, with some prizes awarded by raffle to attending shooters.

  ECI’s shall be inserted into the chamber before the rifle is brought to the firing line.

  ECI’s may be removed at the start of the three minute preparation period.

  ECI’s shall be reinserted upon completion of firing or the call for cease fire.

  There will be no handling of rifles on the firing line while any personnel are down range.

  
  

  Scoring:

  SQUADDING:
  At Statistical Office commencing at 7:30 a.m.
  Competitors are required to check in by 8:30 a.m. the day of the match.
  Entries end at 8:30 a.m. the day of the match and are restricted to the first 50
  paid competitors.
  
  GENERAL:
  Competitors will be required to pull targets (if electronic targets are not available)
  and serve as score keepers. If electronic targets are used, competitors will be
  required to assist in putting up and taking down targets. The club will not provide
  pullers. The Match Director is authorized to reduce the match in shots fired or
  distance due to range conditions. Refunds will not be provided once the match
  has commenced. Competitors are encouraged to bring your own electronic
  tablets. The Club has a limited number that can be loaned out.
                                                                               
  ALL COMPETITORS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE A “WAIVER, RELEASE,
  AND INDEMNIFICATION
  AGREEMENT” FORM. This form is NHRPC Adult Minor Waiver
  and can be completed prior to attending the match. Shooters who have

Any sight system may be used. Muzzle brakes are not permitted; flash hiders are allowed. Equipment Needed: Rifle, ammo (at least 90 rounds), clips or magazines, shooting mat or blanket, spotting scope or binoculars, pen, ear & eye protection, sling, adjustment tools, winter jacket or shooting coat. Course of Fire: CMP Cup Match, Short Range Highpower Rifle Standard Course, 80 shots for record (88 including sighting shots), fired at 100 yards. Line calls will be given for each stage of fire. Competitors will have a 3 minute preparation period prior to each stage: 2 sighting shots in followed by 20 record shots slow fire standing in 22 minutes. 2 sighting shots in 2 minutes, followed by two 10 shot strings of sitting rapid fire each with a magazine change in 60 seconds by CMP rules. 2 sighting shots in 2 minutes, followed by two 10 shot strings of prone rapid fire each with a magazine change in 70 seconds by CMP rules. 2 sighting shots followed by 20 record shots slow fire prone in 22 minutes. Targets: All targets will be CMP approved targets for each stage of fire. Ammunition: Competitor must bring their own safe ammunition, such as factory, reloads, or surplus. No tracer, armor piercing, or incendiary ammunition is permitted. Classification: CMP classifications, or if you are new we will help you get a CMP classification. Challenges: There are no challenges.
